TJ Watt vs the Chiefs offensive line
The standout guy for the Steelers in Cleveland.
Not only did he record 3 sacks but he was also responsible for the tie-saving field goal block. As the Steelers set about their zone-blitz scheme, the offensive line will have a tough ask in keeping TJ Watt from getting to Patrick Mahomes.
Patrick Mahomes vs history
Can he deliver what Alex Smith could not? A win against a Ben Roethlisberger led Steelers team.
In recent times the defence had done enough to hold the powerful Steelers offense to less than 25 points, but it has been the Chiefs offense that has been found wanting. In a game that looks destined to be a shootout, can Pat Mahomes and his gang of very fast men lead the Chiefs to a long overdue victory over Big Ben.
Antonio Brown vs the Chiefs defensive backs.
Historically, he owns the Chiefs secondary.
The best receiver in the league had a relatively quiet outing against the Browns last Sunday. By quiet, I of course mean 9 catches for 93 yards and a score. No one in the league can match the production of Brown over the last 4 years, no one. In his last 3 games against the Chiefs, he amassed over 330 yards receiving and has proven himself to be a mismatch nightmare for the Chiefs secondary.
The Steelers defence vs Tyreek Hill
Fear the speed.
What do they do to stop the most explosive player in the league? Last week Mahomes and Hill literally tore apart any form of cover 2 the Chargers threw their way, a defence the Steelers run most of the time. Will they have to sacrifice their trusted scheme to enable them to play shallow and deep on Tyreek? If they decide to, this may open things up for Travis Kelce, a superstar who is bound to have a better game than last Sunday.
On this week’s Arrowheads Abroad podcast the guys were joined by Seth Keysor from the Athletic. On this show they discussed Mahomes incredible performance against the Chargers and looked ahead to Sunday’s clash against the Steelers.
