The story so far

Chiefs high flying offence masks the low flying defence enough by setting records left, right and center. Chiefs remain unbeaten. The Denver No Fly Zone is now accepting frequent flyer miles by the bucket load. Somehow they’ve made it to 2-1 without being particularly good.

One to watch

Pat Mahomes – Sure, who else do you want to watch throw it around in the thinner air of Denver where the ball can travel longer. Denver has the toughest defence he’ll have faced so far, likely to play a lot of man coverage rather than the zone he’s mostly seen. Can he fit the ball into tight windows? Duh.

Key matchup

Mitch Schwartz v Von Miller

In order for Mahomes to have time to throw, they need to keep him upright against a good Denver pass rush. Von Miller is still one of the best defenders in the league but Schwartz hasn’t given up a sack to him in his last 3 games. Some would say that Schwartz owns him. He needs to keep him shackled the full game here.

What they said

Von Miller on going up against RT Mitchell Schwartz:

He’s dynamic, strong, he’s got everything you want from a tackle,” Miller said on his infamous opponent. “I’m a fan of the game and I know great players. Mitch is a great player. it’s funny how you get three All-Pros and no Pro Bowls. I’ve got a lot of respect for him and whenever I get the opportunity to switch jerseys with him you know I’m gonna. He’s my Daddy.”

What we said

Greg Lewis

LEWIS:Hill draws attention from the defense and that singles up, whether it’s (Travis) Kelce, Sammy (Watkins), Chris Conley or Kareem (Hunt), having more room to run in open space. That’s on the field, but off the field, he’s also done a tremendous job in the classroom with this being his third year in the offense, understanding all the nuances and bringing along the Byron Pringles, the Josh Crocketts, the (Gehrig) Dieters – all of them – [helping] acclimate them to the offense and knowing what they’re supposed to do.”
